Professional Background
Dr. Renze-Eilers is a Clinical Psychologist with over 23 years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults. Dr. Renze-Eilers earned a B.S. in General Science from the University of Iowa in 1979, a Masters Degree in Psychology in 1985 from the University of Iowa, and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Iowa in 1988. She completed an American Psychological Association accredited internship in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill in 1988.
Following her internship, Dr. Renze-Eilers joined the staff of Dorothea Dix Hospital in Raleigh, N.C., where she worked on the Adolescent Inpatient Services from 1988-1998. During that time Dr. Renze-Eilers served as the Program Director of the Adolescent Admissions Unit, as well as providing services in the Adolescent Residential Treatment Program. While at Dorothea Dix, Dr. Renze-Eilers was an Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at UNC Chapel Hill, participating in the training of psychology interns and child psychiatry residents. In addition, she maintained a private practice in Cary, N.C.
Dr. Renze-Eilers has been in full time private practice in Cary, N.C. since 1998, working with individuals, couples and families. She has a wide range of experience with children, adolescents and adults, working on issues such a depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, high functioning Asperger's Disorder, relationships issues and life transition issues.
Dr. Renze-Eilers is now expanding her practice to include the treatment of sexual dysfunction and sexually related issues in both individuals and couples. She completed training at the Florida Postgraduate Institute for Sex Therapy in Palm Beach, Florida, and is a Certified Sex Therapist through the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT).
